Alan Voos Memorial Scholarship

The Alan Voos Memorial Scholarship was established in 2002 by Anne Byrd and Francie McNair-Stoner, as well as other friends and family, in memory of their former classmate. Alan was born in 1947, and grew up in Russell, Kan. He received a bachelor’s degree in Microbiology from KU in 1969, followed by a bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology in 1973. He worked as a medical technologist and was employed as a business development representative for Roche Diagnostic Corp. Alan died in 2001. Anne Byrd received a bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology and her Certificate of Medical Technology in 1973, both from KU. She earned an MBA from KU in 1992. In 2005, she became the Vice President of Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City, after working there in several directorial positions for a number of years. Francie McNair-Stoner received a bachelor’s degree in Microbiology in 1972 and a bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology in 1973, both from KU. She was employed for 27 years at Cerner Corporation, retiring in 2011 as their Director of Marketing. Her family includes four generations of Jayhawks.

This scholarship is for students in the Department of Clinical Laboratory Science in the School of Health Professions.
