The Emergency Grant Application is for current KU students at the Lawrence/Edwards campuses seeking financial assistance due to an unexpected financial obstacle. KU Medical Center students should refer to the KUMC emergency grant application.

Varies - Awards may vary from $1 to $1500, with the average award being $500.

The Emergency Grant Application is intended to assist current KU students seeking emergency financial assistance due to unanticipated situations that have created an unforeseen financial obstacle. Students can find more information about available KU emergency grants and their requirements at help.ku.edu/emergency-funds.

    Please be aware that applying does not guarantee that you will receive funding. Awarding of funding is not immediate and takes time – if you have questions or concerns about your application, please contact emergencyaid@ku.edu.

  2. Is your request for emergency aid related/due to the COVID-19 pandemic?
  3. Please provide a detailed explanation of your situation and your rational for applying for emergency financial assistance that addresses the following questions:

    1. What circumstances have led you to fill out this application and/or caused you to be in this financial crisis?

    2. Has anything unexpected happened to you in the last 6 months?

    3. What steps, if any, have you taken to try to remedy your situation? For example, have you met with any offices; determined a financial plan moving forward; or taken any other steps to seek out assistance?

    Please be as detailed as possible in your explanation – it is possible that members from the Emergency Aid Network will follow up to ask for further context if needed during their review of your application – follow up usually happens by email, so please continue to check your KU email inbox.
