SALMON SHIRLEY J PHD AND THOMAS L SCHOLARSHIP

The Fund shall be used to provide annual scholarships, given in two semester increments, for graduate students enrolled in their second year in the Hearing and Speech Department of the University of Kansas School of Health Professions who are working toward an M.A or Ph.D. in Speech-Language Pathology. A grade point average of at least 3.0 is required. The recipients should be primarily interested in addressing adult speech-language communication problems; focus can be in research, teaching, treatment, or a combination thereof. Awards are not to be made to students focusing on children’s problems, e.g., those contemplating careers in the public schools. Awards are to be made without regard to sex, race, color, age, creed, sexual preference, national origin, or state of residence. Foreign students are to be considered equally with U.S. Citizens. Financial need should be a consideration. However, no more than two annual scholarship awards from this fund should go to any one student.
