LGBTQ Community Leadership Scholarship
Individuals eligible to apply for the leadership award will:
1. Have demonstrated activism and support to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender communities. 2. Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 for the last completed semester of post-secondary education. (Note: this criterion may be waived by the selection committee under exceptional circumstances.) 3. Enroll at KU for the fall semester of the academic year to which the award is to be applied. 4. Sexual orientation does not have to be disclosed and will not be a factor in determining the recipient. The selection committee shall consist of:1. One student member of Queers & Allies, to be annually appointed by the faculty advisor to Queers & Allies
2. The faculty advisor to Queers & Allies
3. The president of Gay and Lesbian Academic and Staff Advocates
4. The Graduate Assistant for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Concerns 5. One KU alumni, Mr. Henry Schwaller. When the alumni member elects to quit the board, a replacement shall be appointed by the other members of the selection committee.

4. How have you worked to center or serve Queer and Trans people with additional marginalized identities (folks of color, people with disabilities, international students, etc.)?
5. How have you created or found community within the Queer and Trans community? Talk about the importance of queer/trans community to your life.
6. Tell us about your financial need. How do you pay for college, is there parental/familial support, and what, if any, additional support you receive?
7. Is there anything else you’d like us to know about yourself or why you’re applying to the scholarship? - I understand and agree to the following: All recipients will need to write a thank you letter/card to the donor. The letter/card is due to The Center at or before April 1st. Failure to write and submit a letter/card may result in ineligibility to receive the funding. Center staff are available to assist students with materials and in writing the letter if helpful. All recipients are highly encouraged to attend Lavender graduation where they will receive recognition and a certificate.
