Richard J. Caldwell and Barbara M. Stuckey Student Access

This fund shall be used to provide support for deaf and hard-of-hearing students at the University of Kansas. The donors express a preference for this fund to provide scholarships for deaf and hard-of-hearing students. Additional acceptable usage of this fund shall include but not be limited to: costs for sign-language interpreters; video closed caption translation and other services that make more accessible a KU education for students with hearing impairment. Twenty percent of the funds available can be used for graduate students with a preference for students who have an undergraduate degree from Kansas or Missouri schools. The balance of available funds shall be awarded to undergraduates, with a preference for students who are high school or equivalent graduates from Kansas or Missouri schools. Any non-deaf recipients must be using a hearing aid or equivalent assistive listening device, which can be provided by this fund, if necessary. Use of the fund shall be determined by the Academic Achievement and Access Center (AAAC) at KU or its successor office. The amounts of the scholarship and the recipients thereof shall be determined by the Director of the AAAC.
