J. Mark and Bridget O. Gidley Debate Scholarship

The Fund shall be used to provide scholarships for students that show excellence in Policy Debate (including NDT or CEDA debate) and/or speech at the University of Kansas. Financial need is not a prerequisite; demonstrated skill in Debate and/or Speech is a prerequisite for scholarship award. The amounts of the scholarship awards and the recipients thereof shall be determined by an appropriate committee appointed by the Director of Forensics in the Department of Communication Studies at KU. Undergraduate students at all levels of study are eligible; graduate students may also become eligible once the needs of undergraduate students in a particular year have been met. The primary intent of the donors is to permanently support competitive, intercollegiate forensics at KU and to ensure support for and survival of the debate program at KU.
